From now until Wednesday night. Brought the laptop and PSR500; what's to listen to?

Got the Portland/Multnomah TRS
No interest in Vancouver/Clark Co
Can't rx the railroad P25 system
IWN is dead
No 380/400TRS I can hear

On top of a mountain most of the day tomorrow; should provide some listening opps.

Location: South King County or the beach, usually one or the other.
Check out the maps section here on the board. You should be able to find which precinct your staying in. There is also a good map of the PFD locations and coverage areas. PDX is usually active enough that you might only want that talk (precinct where you are located) group (plus tac, etc.) in your radio for the PPB. If you are anywhere other than Central Precinct you might want to add Central as well. It is the downtown, and most of the west side of the Willamette and can get quite active.

The city uses AMR for most paramedic as well as BLS responses. PDX has a few rescue units which they also dispatch, There was a separate TG for ALS and BLS dispatch. In the past, this TG has always been very active. Clark County uses AMR for the same purposes. It seems like they come across the Columbia into Emanuel Hospital quite often.

For many years PFD used an old dispatch system. It seems to me that last time I listened they had gone to voice dispatch. I don't know if they are using MDT's for dispatch purposes. They also can be quite active.

Which railroads are using P25 systems in the PDX area? I haven't been there with a scanner for a while, but wasn't aware of any.

Enjoy your stay in the Rose City,

Wayne

The UP System is good for a few laughs when the guys start complaining about their supervisors or others and think no one can hear them.

Sorry you can't hear it, although I can't recall anywhere I can't hear it in the metro area...

Search around for any NON-IWN activity in the VHF federal bands. Mt. Hood is usually pretty chatty...

I've been listening to IWN for a while here; I swear there's a correlation between when FPS starts talking and IWN starts getting busy...
