Anyone have similar?

AVG is a resource hog. I use this. No, it's not free.

Plus now I get that anti-virus rouge thing popping up.
I need to weed thru and manually grab it off.

AVG won't even work anymore.
Now I'm getting those stupid 'antivirus' rouge things.
They're getting harder to find on the HD.
What's a good free anti virus?

Avira

Avast

You might run over to Bitdefender.com and do a free online scan.

If your too messed up use this tool..

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofi ... e-combofix

It will revert a few things back to default so it's kinda a last resort tool. But its saved a few computers brought to me with "problems"...

I've had good luck with Spybot search and destroy. That one is free too.

As it turns out, comcast is being stupid.
I'm tethered to my dumbphone.
I have Avast now, going to un-install avg.
Avast squashed that 'antivirus' shit. still need to hand pick it off.
Bleeping computer has been a good site for me.
This is what happens when teenagers borrow the pc.

I've had awesome results with Avira. I wasn't too sure about it at first, so I asked an IT guy at work who told me that's all he uses.

Since this guy probably knows half as much as Rich does about computers, I went with Avira.

I actually use System Mechanic anti virus... Also if you get the pro version comes with tools to keep your computer running at peak performance... I run a computer repair business on the side, and recommend it to all of my customers...
