First I've heard of Verizon's "4G" network, but what do I know?

http://www.salomondrin.net/2010/06/27/s ... rly-specs/

Right now Verizon's network is kinda slow and latent. Or maybe it's just BlackBerry's current rendering engine that makes it feel like everything takes forever to load. I do know that side by side, AT&T on an iPhone outperformed my berry in a Google Maps app test.

Also, apparently (AT&T) BlackBerry users are subsidizing iPhone users because RIM compresses traffic both ways making them more efficient. So why doesn't everyone do that?

I cant speak vendors but I can give you a run down on how this works

as for 4G all but one carrier that I am aware of just rebrand clear wire
the one carrier use compression to make 3G+ or fake 4g

compression cost money time and sometimes performance and delivery

also compression is hard to deal with when you get out of metro areas

also most cell phones are ass programming so they just dont decompress or support the compression of the networks in a dynamic way

also remember that blackberry is corporate use 1st and then became personal just recently

blackberry traffic traditionally flows to canada (eh) and then back to your corporate office network so if you use BES that changes "everything"
