Don't know why I waited so long to get a high speed internet connection...It's pretty cool. I have had it working for about 2 weeks now, and it's proving to be a very nice addition.

At the same time, I installed a network in my house. My main computer is hooked to a router by CAT5/Ethernet, and the other two computers in the house are linked by 802.11g cards. Still having problems with the Win98 computer (will usually get onto the internet, but does not regularly see the other networked computers). Otherwise, the two WinXP machines are working well. It's especially cool to be able to share the two different printers (one Laser printer, one color inkjet) between all the computers.

Now, gotta get a new laptop, and make it wireless (old one bit the dust)....

A good cheep laptop I use is an Averatec 3150h thin and lite!

There is a newer version with built in wireless Averatec 3225.
Staples has these if you want to see one.
I've had my 3150H for 6 months now and LOVE IT! It's cheep compared to a Dell but costs a heck of lot less than the Dell thin and lite!
I go to the local KC Library and surf the web via 802.11b
FAST! I'm posting this via there FREE wireless connection.

FAST DOWNLOADS!

Yeah, I've been running a Linksys WRT55AG (A+B+G)Router for about a year. Have a HP5850 Wireless printer, 2 computers 1 laptop, XBOX & PS2 all wireless. Plus I share (Serve) 4 people that live in the same building I'm in and one next door. Don't have Any problems with the Comcast service.
Also have a Linksys Cable Modem, save a big $3.00 per month by owning you're own. It used to be a $10.00 savings, when ATTBI owned it.
Just make sure, you setup your Encription & WEP, don't leave anything open. I setup the Priority users, for bandwidth. Have 4 levels of User accounts. My neighbors are happy, it's faster than Dialup. I've had no problems Hosting an XBOX Live Game session.
Yes, KC Libraries and Coffee shops, McDonalds are getting Wireless setups. You can also get good service in Bellevue and other places, because people dont setup their Security protocols. Get your laptop and get into car, drive around.

Isn't there a program that will scan the air waves for open WiFi connections as you drive?
