Anyone have user experience with Wi-max or other wisp?

The dsl service I'm routing from is only running about 200k.
Hell, that's not even fast enough for u-tube. I have to wait until the video downloads. Boo!

So I'm think about wisp/wi-max for portability. I would do a cell card, but the two-year contracts are not attractive.
The way I move around, and the rural areas I like (where not all carriers cover), seems like wisp/wi-max might be better.

My dealings with the ClearWire staff have been pretty impressive. If their network can do what they claim, I'd take a peek at it

Clear Wire is not available around Spokane. However, there are a few other WISP companies.

Good write-up here:

If these providers could quit bickering back and forth, we would be more advanced on this and BPL.

I tried it out and bailed out of it...They claimed coverage in a few areas I wanted it; none actually had the coverage.

FYI, Clearwire does a lot of selective rate-limiting and port filtering.

Then I don't think I'll get it.
I will probably go for the big wire. I've had it before & it is fast.

You know if you can stream music and u-Tube at the same time, that's pretty quick.
