About the only thing a detector is good for is to alert the driver when to start looking for a safe place to pull over.

What about the Phazer?? I think thats what it was called. It was suppose to jam radar. Been so long ago. I heard they were trying to put the company out of business because it actually worked. Of course, This was a few years ago and I'm sure radar has advanced since then.

Such a device would probably be illegal to own/use in the US due to FCC regs. Even if it did "jam" the signal from a doppler radar, though, it would also very likely alert the operator that such interference was happening. Every single speed-measuring radar unit I've ever certified has some sort of RFI (RF Interference) indicator that raises all kinds of fuss if the unit thinks it's being electronically harassed.

The bottom line is that, one way or another, a trooper using either radar or LIDAR (especially LIDAR) is going to catch you if you're speeding, and if they choose to go after you.

I'm not saying this just because I work for WSP -- I'm saying it because it's an electronic fact, based on my knowledge of how these units work.

Let's see... how far can we make the topic drift? ;-)

Keep the peace(es).

My Virtual Private Network (VPN) supplied by Nortel, 128 bit version. I use the VPN during my field service visits while logging on at any WiFi (802.11) hotspot. During field service visits I typically try to find the nearest Kinkos as my remote business office. If not, then go to a Starbucks. But Starbucks's music and chatter a bit noisy.

The Kinkos at Downtown Bellevue is quiet with little interference. The Kinkos in downtown Portland near 7th street is swamped and very busy. Soon I plan to purchase a PDA with VPN; probably the new Motorola "Q" because it works on Windows Mobile. 5.0
