I came upon a used Motorola MTX 8000 Portable (H01UCC6DB3AN NX) and was wondering if there is any out there that could program it to RX only?

I'm looking at getting it programmed to monitor Valley Comm Fire talk groups and King County Sheriff Talk groups.

The specs on the radio are:

Model = H01UCC6DB3AN NX
Type = UCKA
DOC/MDC = 10919310361
Serial # (last 6 ) = J6388 Z
3 Banks = A, B, C
16 Channels

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :D

Let me know who does it for you. I'd like to know who can do it beside us. And yes, your IP is logged.

Convert it to 900MHz HAM (if it can be) or sell it.

It's easily done, but foolish to do these days ;)

'rx only' on a motorola system is possible (NOT true P25 systems), but not legal because of copyright issues (system keys).

You might to get rid of it. Once we reband, we're going with hard key and shuffle band plan. It will be a trunking brick for this area.

Is this all because of 'homeland security' BS?

If so, they might be surprised to find out that anyone with 100$ and some decent RF knowledge can make their entire system useless.... failsoft as well, but to a limited extent...

More taxpayers money, less trust in government agencies because they keep hiding #%(&....

But anyway, back on topic.... It's not worth the hassle to have it programmed, legal issues aside.... mess ONE thing up and you're looking at a few felonies instead of a civil copyright issue.....

IIRC, the MTX is part of the Jedi series, and with a little hacking, can be changed to a different band... I have a UHF 450-520 Mhz Visar who's RF deck should swap right in..

MTUG has been asking for this way before 9/11 because of the rogue programming of radios. There have been many instances of rogue radios causing technical and operational issues for system owners. The hard key and shuffle band plan are the response.

If I had any 800 MHz radios, I'd dump them as soon as I could. They won't be worth a whole lot in the future.
