"wwdxc@yahoogroups.com" <wwdxc@yahoogroups.com> We own the former KRKO-AM transmitter site at 7115 Larimer Road in Everett, Washington. The site contains a 40kW generator, a 500 gallon diesel tank, two 179’ vertical steel radiators connected back to the building, and two 5kW transmitters that can be converted to short-wave use. The radiators could carry a long-wire between them. The property is eight acres and could hold additional antenna types for HAM or other transmission types. The site is fully stocked with critical parts for the 1956 Gates BC-5 transmitter and some additional critical parts for the Continental Power-Rock 315R-1. The facility was taken offline in 2016 when we received licenses for FM translators which led to the construction of another transmitter site. With a new AM site constructed in 2011 and a new FM site constructed in 2016, the Larimer Road site is no longer needed as we have adequate back up. The Larimer Road building would make a perfect amateur radio studio and meeting space. It has two bathrooms, a kitchen, and three offices in addition to the main room. And, amateur radio/shortwave gear could be connected into the existing antenna system with space for more. I’m writing to see whether you can forward this message broadly within the community and perhaps statewide to see if there is any interest in acquiring the site. Getting towers erected in Western Washington is impossible, and it would be a shame to see the building converted to a house and see the towers get dropped. In my heart, broadcast sites should remain broadcast sites. They are too difficult to recreate.
