New member to this group. Love it! Been scannig since age of 6, thanks to gramma...

Used crystals, tunable, VHF/UHF etc... finally time for a new digital apco 25...

I want to listen to new digital trunked but still have the old anaolgs available...

Is there anything out there under 500.00 that can do this? I like the Uniden 396 but that's a lot of cash... will it be upgradeable next year when the frequency is re allocated?

The 246 is a sweet unit, but from what I have been reaqding, it is not a digital ready unit...? I don't want to be left behind when everything moves to narrow band digital in 2006... any suggestions on a digital trunking, and analog with upgrade (flash) capabilities??

Rebanding for Wave 4 (Region 43 - Washing State - is Wave 4) is presently scheduled for the 06-07 time frame. There are a lot of issues surrounding rebanding for areas adjacent to the boarder, so this may or may not happen within the presently scheduled timeframe.

Rebanding moves the existing 800 MHz frequencies. It does not dictate changing modulation to digital. I am not aware of any plan to move the major systems in the greater Puget Sound area to digital in conjunction with rebanding.

So, if you are buying a digital scanner because of rebanding, I would suggest you re-visit the decision. Also, remember that presently all digital conversations on the King County Regional Radio System are encrypted. I cannot speak for the other systems.

My mistake... I assumed that the rebanding included narrow band digital.
I heard that all LEO's were mandated to narrow band digital... I guess it is just narrow band....

I actually like the 246... is it flash upgradeable....?

The PRO-97 should work just fine.
