A co-worker stumbled across this TG 59984 on Monday, Oct 24. This is "Traffic Control" for the Downtown Seattle Tunnel Project. The tunnel is closed through summer of 2007 so that contractors can perform upgrades for Light Rail.
It appears that any vehicle or equipment movement between IDS & CPS is governed by a 24-hour dispatcher called "Traffic Control." The dispatching of traffic ranges from very casual to "almost" railroad-like depending on the dispatcher. The current tunnel bores are reffered to as "Main 1" and "Main 2" and the work under Pine Street is reffered to as the "Stub Tunnel."
Place Names:
Main 1 - Single lane and track in the Northbound (or East) bore IDS-WLS
Main 2 - Single lane and track in the Southbound (or West) bore IDS-WLS
(South to North)
IDS - Internation District Station
PSS - Pioneer Square Station (also called "Pioneer")
USS - University Street Station (also called "University")
WLS - Westlake Station (also called "Westlake")
Cut & Cover - 2 lane and 2 track tunnel segment between WLS & CPS
Stub Tunnel - A short deadend tunnel being constructed for Light Rail use.
CPS - Convention Place Station (also called "Convention Place")
I have monitored 59984 on the Seattle system. I have not been able to pick it up on the KC/ValleyCom system and don't know if it can be heard on the Eastside system.
This what I have so far...
