So while searching for NXDN licenses in Cowlitz County I found this non-NXDN license for Sprint WPPB237. And when google mapping it, the location is here
https://www.google.com/maps/@46.3439308 ... 312!8i6656

Looks like a fiber regen type hut, but wondering what the license is for, obviously the picture show a UHF yagi on it too?
Any ideas?

"PROVIDE MAINTENANCE COMMUNICATIONS FOR COMMUNICATIONS FIBER"

Some sort of SCADA for their systems?

That's what I thought - maybe a backup for alarms in case the fiber gets cut...

Since I'm good at hijacking posts -- is Cowlitz putting in a VHF NXDN trunk system? I've been meaning to call Victor and get the story...

Think it's already in. Has great interoperability with the surrounding users;-)

Ha! Interoperability is an attitude, not a technology. Still gets me every time...

I was wondering because at least the control channels of NXDN trunk systems require a FB8 or phenomenally good input freqs. If the system sees traffic or a carrier (even interference) on the input to the channel it'll busy the channel out. All I've seen are FB2's. Wonder how well it's working for them.

Where'd you pull this from? The license says
Code:
90.35A - The applicant is in the communications business providing telecommunications services to eligible persons.

I do, however, see that same eligibility on WPPB308. I caught a few guys yakking on 451.7250 (186.2) a few years ago and WPPB308 was the only license that made sense. There was talk of Adaptec, APC, automatic power, VLANs, spanning trees, rooftop antennas. Antenna adjustment and other tower site work. The repeater they're using won't talk to Mission and one of the guys will unplug it later. They'd like to tie all their repeaters together with a voice circuit as it sounds a lot better than the Motorolas the fire department uses.
They cancelled the license so apparently they never tied the repeaters together.

I don't see any NXDN emissions. I also don't see anything for Cowlitz 5.

What I did get was a laugh out of that...all the wideband emissions... Sean can relate I'm sure.

....That's circa 6 years ago.

Maybe the date on the top of the page only appears on my screen??
