Time to clear up some KingCo talkgroups that have been bugging me for a while. There seem to be a lot of transit-related LE channels, what's the difference?

How many LE agencies do we really have?

Are the TGs split by agency, area, ride type, or what?

23952 Transit Police Primary: KC Metro and Sound Transit
23984 Transit Police TAC
24016 Metro Transit, Link ctrl, tunnel security, Transit PD
24048 King County Metro Transit
60272 Lt Rail 8 Fare Inspection
60304 King County Metro bus tunnel security
60336 Lt Rail10 Security
60368 Lt Rail11? Emergency
60400 Lt Rail12? ANC TG
60432 transit PD
60464 transit PD
63632 PD?

I seem to remember the breakdown on agencies involved was something like this, but I am just a Portland guy...

First there is Transit Police, which is under King County SO. They have regular uninformed officers that are under the regular RCWs for law enforcement. Then you also have Fare Enforcement Officer, which is covered under RCW 7.80.040 and have different powers by law.

However, there is also "Transit Security" that Sound Transit has, that as I understand is under contract thru Securitas?

Almost forgot, the KCSO NW / NW Tac seem to be transit now as well.

Last time I rode the train (a few months ago) 'Fare Enforcement' was also Securitards contract security.

KCSO that KE7JFF mentions. Officers in both Metro PD and Sound Transit PD uniforms

Used to be patched to 453.525 (141.3) (Ch7) and (453.525) (Ch8) and basically existed so that 800 radios could talk on the UHF system. Have not listened to these TGs since Metro dumped their UHF system but they're probably TG patches to 1F9.

Fare Inspectors as KE7JFF mentions. Security officers on board trains that check tickets/passes. If they need a KCSO back I believe the call for it here.

All the security officers in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel. Used to be Olympic Security, then this happened so they switched to Securitas. Alpha tagged as "Security 1" in their radios but is programmed as Ch 9 on the trains.

Same as above; this is called "Security 2"

I've caught two comms here: "___ we're in the yard now." and "Train 3 to LCC". The yard is the open area for trains at 3407 Airport Way S; LCC is the Link Control Center in the building at the aforementioned adddress. Train # refers to a specific trainset.

Have not seen this one

60432 transit PD
60464 transit PD
Used to be PSOPS N3 and N4

Also have not seen this one
