I'm getting back to the scanning hobby and am planning on getting a handheld scanner with trucking ability. (I'm looking at the UNIDEN BC-246T) I was just wondering if this would allow me to listen to the Tacoma Police now that they are on a trunked system. I have no experience with trunking, so I'm feeling quite lost right now.

Any help would be appreciated ....

Yes the 246T will work and so will the Uniden BCD396T and the BR330T. all three are flash programable when the FCC rebands the 800MHz Band out here. I have the 246T and it works great for me here in Tacoma. The only channels you are not going to get are the Digital ones due to the level 3 encryption.
