I've heard South Puget dispatch talking to field units on 159.3075 the past week. So far I haven't heard this channel refered to by a name such as "AREA x". Kerwin |

Is there a PL-out of 114.8? I'm sometimes hearing them simulcast 151.2275/114.8 along with 151.205 when replying to MasonCo/Belfair, but haven't caught any new output yet. I was concerned that it was just my receiver bleeding across (definitely true for the BC780), but the good radio shows two peaks on the S-meter with narrow bandwidth and tuning steps... Flash |

Don't forget the USFS (Forest Service) freq's also during fire season. I had a good time listening over at Bonaparte Lake on DNR and USFS a couple Summers ago. Jumpers and the logistics of the fire was entertaining. Camping + smoke + radio = :D |

You may find that DNR (if you are listening from a fixed location) is mostly administrative details/scheduling/checking fire sites etc, does not seem to be much actuall fire fighting talk unless you get close enough to the fire to hear the low wattage portables, then things can get quite active. Fire districts do the first responding generally. USFS is much better for the fire line stuff-especially the air drops, which tend to be on the Tac freqs for the particular Ranger District in which the fire exists, again the closer you are to the fire, the better the reception. |

South Puget DNR was working some small fires yesterday. The 159.3075 repeater was called "Eatonville", never referred to as any sort of "Area-n" or such. Perhaps they're getting away from the confusion... Seems to be 159.3075/114.8 out + 151.2275/114.8 in, almost certainly the Puyallup Ridge LO near Ashford (KNFJ398). Flash |
