Correction for the pdf page Should read Blaine, LYNDEN & Sumas on page 10 talking about IWN.
FERNDALE is still on the Whatcom County Sheriff system.

have to admit, Im sitting in Tumwater with a astro saber and I'm picking up Tacoma mobile traffic better than expected. P25 is strange indeed, mobile is at mp 137, a good 20 plus miles away. another unit heard was at narrows bridge. Is it possible the conventional is rebroadcasting the 700 system?.

It is.

It's multicast.

Both IWN and 700 get dumped to area channel, P25..

Do they keep the newer 700 WSP TGs in phase one for awhile? I'm noticing Tacoma is but Bremerton is gone from Capitol Pk in Phase 1.

Even though there is no (that I nor the local techs know of) UHF P-25 system in the state, the patrol is still forced by state law to purchase P-25 capable radios to interop with those agencies on UHF.

Or more correctly- (iii) Any new system or equipment purchases shall be, at a minimum, upgradable to project-25;

Well, lest we not forget forget the D.O.D. P25 UHF System. I can hear a good deal of analog voice from both N.A.S. Whidbey and Kitsap. Mostly maintenance crews, but occasionally I can hear Base Security and some Fire Units in the clear. And I also understand that they've recently upgraded to APX7000 dual-band stuff for mutual / automatic aid operations.

A more descriptive term for P25 might look like more this: P$2$5.
