Listened to an operation tonight on MARS by SPD. At one point it went to ground from the cars and someone asked for a 3-wire. Google only gets me to that it might be food... |

3 wire uses 3 wires, an earpiece, a PTT switch, and a microphone, all on separate wires. Most are 2 wire, with the PTT/MIC being one wire and earpiece being another. Most people also don't know the difference and they may have heard the term and use it interchangeably to mean 'earpiece' or 'surveillance adaptor'.... |

The really sneaky guys use an inductive neck loop with their 3-wire kits. Then you can use a Phonak Phonito earpiece, which is basically a hearing aid without the mic. Or you can just hide in plain sight with the Motorola Bluetooth pod and ipod-like earbud kit and wireless keyfob PTT
