NAWAS stands for "National Warning system" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Warning_System It works like a big party like. The phones has an build in PTT switch in the handset to talk. Good to know that my County picked up on the 2nd round, Good job Snohomish.

They have two weekly tests on Thursdays. Once in the day and once in the evening. For Snohomish County, DEM answers in during the day and SNOPAC answers it in the evening. This was recorded in the evening....

911 calltaker has to pick up the phone. If there is a 911 call in progress, then the NAWAS phone takes secondary. Not to mention the physical phone itself is junk. I know there was a trouble tic. in for it to be replaced in Jan. or Feb. Still not sure if it has been replaced.
