Post subject:  PSOPS question

are PSOPS N1
PSOPS N2
PSOPS S1
PSOPS S2

only available to and on the King Co/Valcom system?
or are they also Available to the NORCOM agencies as well?
what I'm wondering is if they are able to be programmed into my NORCOM bank(s)??
Thanks.

Moose, I believe they are only the ValleyComm system. In my 346xt and BCT-15, I have a dedicated "scan" bank -- my #9 quick key. I set it up for both ESPCA and ValleyComm trunks and then "scan" only certain talkgroups. This way it's fast enough to switch between both trunks without delays. (If it was just in search mode, then it would likely take forever to cycle thru the trunks.)

I also have search banks which are mostly for searching new TGIDs in that system. The only exception is Port of Seattle which I always keep in search mode (since it's a small system.)

If you have a Uniden scanner, let me know and I can send you my FreeScan files for the Eastside.

S1 and S2 won't do you much good on EPSCA

All four (N1/N2/S1/S2) can pop up anywhere in the county, you're just playing the odds by saying that KC/VC is south and EPSCA is north. Actually, KC/VC goes to the Snohomish border... that's the "KC" part.

EPSCA agencies can use S1/S2 as needed to coordinate with agencies in the south county - and the talkgroup will show up on whichever system(s) their radios are affiliated with.

Geography and procedures will change the probability of hearing talkgroups on a given system, but I wouldn't leave them out of the programming list.

N = North of I-90; S = South of I-90. Definitely could pop up, but the odds of a NORCOM dispatcher assigning it to S1/S2 isn't likely.

As a rule of thumb, at least from the fire side, PSOPS are linked in for rescues with joint operations with KCSO. I've never heard PSOPS S1/S2 used for that, it's always been PSOPS N1.

Thanks for all who posted. I guess it would be worth putting at least N1 and N2 in the Norcom system TG ID's? I just didn't want to put it into that system if it wasn't going to work in Norcom.

PSOPS N1/N2 are used by/with Norcom.

PSOPS N3 & N4 are used by SNOCOM & SNOPAC and like someone said these Talk Group ID's are used mostly for Rescues involving joint agencies. I just had to plug them into my BR330T cause I was listening to a Swift water rescue that switched from Tac 5 to PSOPS.

Partial thread hi-jack...

What ever happened to the EPOL channels? Eastside Police used to use them.

When norcom did the big PD shuffle I programmed these out. I have quite a few NorCom PD tac channels in my .p500 file but honestly don't think I've ever heard traffic on them (but to be fair I don't monitor Bellevue PD much and that's where I've got most of those programmed).

I hear stuff on the ESPD Interop channels for DUI task forces, etc., talkgroups 21872, 21840, 21808, and 21776.

Both PSOPS S1 and S2 were active on EPSCA yesterday with south county traffic.
