just curious, other than the frequency, how can you tell they were b-52's? i haven't had an oppertunity to catch any military air traffic , states-side, cause i just got my BC 250d before i left for iraq.

The B-52 radio has a unique sound. Havoc is sometimes a Dyess AFB C-130 callsign, but these aircraft were flying at 39,000 feet, well above the C-130 ceiling of 30,000. Also the Havocs called Fairchild CP and wanted to know where to drop the chute on the field, the one that is deployed after the B-52 lands.

HAVOC 61 is flying around between Ephrata and Fairchild tonight, a while ago he called Fairchild Metro on 238.4 and asked about weather at Minot AFB, home of the 5th Bomb Wing. They have a cool patch too. The skull thing is scary

HAVOC 61 is flying around again tonight, just called Fairchild CP on 311.0 and got a phone patch to Barksdale CP. One engine is shut down and they will land at Fairchild, but have to fly around for six hours to burn down fuel. Talking to Seattle Center on 291.6
