Hearing slow morse code (I think) on home stereo in NE Tacoma (on very big hill overlooking Puget Sound). Thinking its a marine beacon?? With volume low, can hear it "loud" and clear. Never stops, checked at all times of day and night. Same exact beeps. I don't know any morse code so I have no idea what it is. It's not a problem for me to have it "bleeding through" Just want to know what it is. Tried scanning all freqs that my scanners can do, none of them will pick it up, I can only go to 20mhz so it must be lower or above 1300mhz (don't think it would be that high) Any help or ideas is appreciated. |

I had an old 80's 'boom box' that if you turned the dial (ya analog dial) all the way down you could hear the Kenmore Air VOR(?) morse code which was being transmitted in the aviation band. Have you tried looking there? |

Could be the VLF directional beacon from Tacoma Narrows Airport. If you can get the dots and dashes and post them, I'll certainly decode them. If what I suspect is right, it'll be 3 or 4 letters, then a pause, then the same 3 or 4 letters repeating themselves, at a very slow rate of speed. |

Its probably a marine beacon or aircraft NDB. Go to the Intercept frequency database and select Longwave/AM on the top box. Might be 216khz. |

Did some experimenting today to see where it was "bleeding" through. Its coming in on my speaker wire running through the walls for the surround sound. Just one certain speaker wire though. The longest run speaker wire. I'm quessing its acting like a longwire antenna. I had a thought that it might be a VOR or an outer marker (those are long beeps, right?) for Seatac. On a clear day I can see downtown Seattle from my bedroom balcony. I think kf3el hit it on the nose. Thats exactly what it sounds like. I could probrably feed the sound into my computer and have it decode it. Pretty interesting. Thanks for the help |
