Federal way added flashing yellow lights a few years ago. The control boxes have a stubby NMO mount antenna. This last month they added fixed speed cameras to a few school zones. More stubby NMO mount antennas on the control boxes. The question I have is, anyone know freqs / data being sent to turn on / off these devices? |

I thought they were using Verizon or Sprint data. |

I've never seen the wireless ones...the ones I have seen required a wireline connection. |

I know the Kent School District has had a yellow school zone light with a black 'ducky' antenna atop it on 124th SE, JSO Kent-Kangley for years; no idea though. ETA picture from Street View:

Our school zone lights also have that same Kent stubby "ducky" antenna on it as well... I was told at one time that you would dial a phone number and then pressing a few buttons would turn on the lights and the same to turn them off...possibly a Verizon/Sprint data thing as well? The schools here used to control them but I'm told now it's a city/county thing. |
