I got this info from a buddy who works for US Oil & Refining Company. I know most of the list is well known marine frequencies, but can anyone up north confirm the repeater? ![]() Here's what he said about the repeater: "We only tune in when there is any kind of oil or refinery-related happening going on. We have this partnership with the 5 other refineries in the Puget Sound, so we only listen in if they have a problem or if we do." When asked about how often it gets used: "The oil/refinery stuff is unpredictable The only "significant" spill was up north, a few years ago. BUT, the agency does more than just deal with oil. There was a chlorine leak 3 months ago from some company in the Port of Tacoma, and apparently that was on there. Also, I'm told that there was a lot of chatter on Saturday, since the air quality in Seattle proper was bad enough to get the EPA's attention." This was for a few months ago; back when the weather was actually sunny. I've had it in one of my banks and I only occasionally pick up a CWID. Supposedly they hit this repeater from Tacoma with handhelds, or maybe they only use it up near Mt. Constitution with handhelds and they don't use it down south; I can't remember what he meant. Or I suppose they could be on the Gold repeater; that'd be easy in Tacoma. I searched ULS and couldn't find a relevant license. |

LOL -- I love the Christmas Season. The best time to check out all of those UHF repeaters. As for the 454.00 "Oil Spill / Clean-up" channels (Both UHF and VHF ) ( 150.98 R, 159.48 R, as well as 153.05 R and 153.155 R ) there is known to be at least one and maybe two -- perminant repeaters -- on Gold Mountain or Mt. Connie -- and a group of Portable Repeaters -- for oil spill clean-up operations. What your pal with the oil company -- did not write down on the napkin was that the Anacortes area refinery has a few UHF repeaters of their own. PS: Don't worry Mark. I'll put up your bail. |

Just a piece of paper with some wrinkles on it that got magnified when scanned. And I asked about PLs but he didn't remember seeing anything other than those freqs and some local Tacoma stuff. |

More info about freqs used during oil spill incidents can be found at the following sites: United States - Canada Border Program http://www.epa.gov/emergencies/content/ ... order.html Annex I - CANUSWEST http://www.epa.gov/r10earth/canuswest.htm http://www.epa.gov/r10earth/offices/oec/canuswest.pdf Regional Response Team Northwest Area Committee Northwest Area Contingency Plan http://www.rrt10nwac.com/nwacp_document.htm Especially THIS document: 9650 - Communications Manual http://www.rrt10nwac.com/files/nwacp/20 ... 209650.pdf I'm not sure what the deal is with listing 2m Amateur freqs for wildlife beach patrol, maybe volunteers who are licensed? Washington Dept of Ecology http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/spills/spills.html Lots of maps and other info. http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/spills/p ... e_grps.htm http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/spills/p ... _sound.htm Kerwin |

I have heard the Canadian Marine Spill Response agency 'Burrard Clean' and the US Marine Spill Response Corporation both use the 454.0000 repeater with a tone of 103.5 Operations were for training exercises. I heard three callsigns: KNDU378 KND372 KND278 I would think the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency would use the same PL, as this frequency is used for all agencies to respond in conjunction and communication with each other. |
