Hello Everyone,

I will also be trying to monitor this system shortly.. Will be travelling into the Snohomish area.

I know that the Snohomish system is fairly new. Maybe someone can help me with these questions:

a) How many of the services are now fully migrated to the new system? Are the old VHF frequencies still being used?

b) Which services are running in unencrypted APCO25? Is it a good idea to bring along the BC-250d with card?

Any other information that might make scanning easier would be appreciated. Looking forward to visiting Snohomish county.

Cheers,
SD.

Currently, Marysville PD, Everett PD, Sheriff Office South and South County PD 1 and 2 are using the trunked system. The others PD's have not yet made the switch(that I can tell). Not sure about Fire.

My understanding is that all talkgroups are analog with the exception of a few channels using encrypted APCO25.

I'm currently using a BC780XLT and have no problems monotoiring police.

Oh by the way, all agencies are still transmitting on the old VHF system.

The Sheriff's Office is actually part of phase 2 of the project and won't be using 800 till next year or later. With Mukilteo using 800 the Sheriff South frequency is simulcast onto 800.

Fire will be switching in March as they are installing their equipment now.

Very soon SnoCom will stop all VHF police broadcasting as all the agencies are almost completely switched over.

Anyone know what is happening w/ TG 5424, listed in the talkgroup section on this site as TAC 21 FIRE TAC 21 - Snocom FD response .

Trunker program I have is -- for the first time -- showing this TG as active and I'm hearing Everett Fire being dispatched on it as primary dispatch (EV fire and police, etc are usually dispatched by SnoPac, not SnoComm, right?. Don't see that it is Patch status tho. Maybe some of the SERS folks could help out explaining this?
