This year the DOT's using a cross-band link I hadn't heard before: 151.025 csq in the Seattle area. I'm curious what the site is, and what region it really covers. Base call is "Seattle", and it seems to cover I-405, I-90, and SR410 (Crystal/Cayuse/Chinook).

It's probably time (winter mountain pass season) to update the list of these channels. Some previous discussion is here: http://www.interceptradio.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1307 . Here's my list, open to corrections as some are years old -

I wonder if some of the plows kept the low band radios for chat?

Great question. Mostly I hear the chatter on the 800 simplex channels.

Man, you gotta be damn close for that. I talked to someone direct on 900 yesterday and lost him after a half mile.

We used to get better than 10 miles car to car on 900. Of course that was in the desert.

Someone should verify the channel names/numbers for the 800 simplex stuff; I think those were the ones I got from WSDOT around 2000-2001.

Also, I was in a WSDOT facility not too long before I left for ND, and I didn't see one plow or truck with a low-band antenna, save CB stuff.

I've heard the 800 channels called 'one', 'two' and 'three', never heard anything about banks or formal names. They are good for a few miles.
