Post subject:  Antennas used on Seattle Police Cars

I noticed that SPD has replaced most of the antennas on their cars with a new, shorter black flexible rubber whip. It sort of looks like a "rubber-duckie" antenna. They appear to be using them for both voice and data.

Does anyone know the manufacturer/model number of this antenna?

My intuition tells me that an antenna of this type wouldn't perform very well, but if SPD is using them widely, they must work OK.

Is this it? You can look up part number 439721 at tessco.com. It's a dual band antenna.

These antennas are widely used in my area for the Wilson amps to amplify the aircards and the cellphones...
