I still see a lot of UHF radio channels listed for the Boeing Plants. Are there any experts on the Boeing radio system -- in the group ?? Are they 800 Mhz trunked or UHF for the Security and Fire Dept. radios ??? MTM

I know that Boeing Fire has access to the Snohomish County system to talk with Everett, and Paine Field Fire.

SO --- what are these stations for ???? ( WPQB-289, WPQB-461, WPUX-951, ) ??? They are UHF not 800 mhz.

When I 1st started at Boeing 30 yrs ago they were using UHF and VHF I have a hunch they might have used the UHF stuff for plant wide trucking.

Everything at BOEING is on the trunk system

No -- These are a new system. The VHF was for plant ops - security - fire and the like. The UHF system used by transportation was on 462 Mhz from Tiger Mtn and other hilltops. These new UHF systems are located at the plants. Each plant also has a group of 30 or more simplex UHF channels --- most likely for plant local operations. All of the operations at Boeing are not on the 800 mhz trunked system -- by any means.

All the stuff I ever hear is on the trunk system. Since I have listen to the trunk system I have never heard anything on the UHF stuff or the VHF stuff Its listed but I dont think they use it

The PRO-97 I use at work is in for repair (the BNC connector inside has a broken ground connection). I work at Fluke and our HQ is on the north property line of Boeing's Everett complex so I should hear something pretty well. I'll try later today when I drive home from work.

:D :D Thanks Dennis. Good to hear from you. All of the Boeing Plants in Los Angeles & Orange County are now using the UHF channels -- for local plant operations. The "BCC" in Huntington Beach was using some "NON-licensed" High Band channels to control some of the remote located UHF stations. ( 151.31 R -- YES A State Fire channel, 153.08, and 158.295). But all Security and Fire depts as well as in plant operations are on the UHF channels in So. Cal. The licenses are the same as those in Washington.

Calm down, Mike...I'll put it on my to-do list. There's a Boeing plant not far from where I live.

One of the Boeing Frequency Management gurus once told me that Boeing has so many frequencies licensed to them, the FCC just laughs at them when they submit for a new frequency! I can tell you that in Puget Sound everyone right down to the janitors is on the 800 mhz trunked system!

There are no VHF or UHF radios being used, on any wide scale basis, at least where I work at. I have seen in my wonderings a few of the low power UHF radios that appear to be unused and have been so for some time. I think they only use them when conditions dictate that they have to as in something like a confined space where they can't work thru the system and the 800 radios, with one exception that I know of, aren't programmed for talk around capability. I know they also have some 800 mhz repeaters in conventional mode in the area.
