Just a couple of days ago I observed a WSP trooper using a NEW type of Laser gun with 4 optical lenses... I assume 2 lenses are for the actual laser and the other 2 lenses are for reception of the reflected beam?

Make and model?

MTM, I haven't talked with you since 1974...YIKES! we are old!
Awh, the days of KCPD southwest VHF 154.965 repeater... King, Victor and uh, the others elude my mind...

Kustom Signals and LTI are the main Laser vendors around here, and (so far) haven't offered such a device. I'll look into it, though.

Brad.

Here's an educated guess on the four lenses...distance measurement.
I was listening to SPD running traffic last weekend and all of the speeds that were transmitted included a distance measurement for each vehicle clocked. I believe they were on the 38th Street overpass and clocking people going North on Aurora (Hwy 99) and it sounded like they were starting speed checks about mid-Aurora bridge which means you will never see the guy with the laser until they have clocked you for what sounded like over 2000 feet. I was told they have an optical sight that resembles a telescope with a cross hair for sighting. By the way, they wrote 110 tickets in a little over an hour and all were well over 50 MPH (in a 40). My guess is that these are the same laser devices that WSP has.

My Kustom Pro Laser III has two lenses - and it gives me speed & distance at the same time (down to 1/10th of a foot).

Spoke to a Trooper last week - he hadn't seen/heard of the State buying anything except the LTI or Kustom laser products.

Perhaps it is a evaluation unit? Prolaser IIII? Field tests? Or perhaps my eyes need testing...
