SEATTLE - The Civil Air Patrol wanted to give residents of Puget Sound a heads up that they will be conducting search and rescue exercises around the greater Seattle area this weekend.
Air and ground crews will be practicing locating emergency transmitters, lost hikers, lost airplanes, and also accomplishing photo-reconnaissance missions of buildings.
The exercises will run both Saturday and Sunday and will be based out of Boeing Field in Seattle.
In the normal course of the drill, airplanes might be seen flying at lower than usual levels, and aircraft flying in the area may see simulated search targets on the ground at locations within 50 miles of Seattle.
