It has been awhile since I have listened to EPSCA & City of Seattle TRS, but if I recall right you can program just the EPSCA Freq. And Talk Groups for EPSCA and program City of Seattle Talk Groups.

For example if I wanted to Listen to Bellevue Fire and Seattle Fire, the Seattle Fire Talk Groups would work in the EPSCA System.

IS this correct?

Yes you can do that. I use the Seattle system to listen to EPSCA most of time.

Thanks for the reply! I have a BC-895XLT but with the newer scanners I guess you have the option of Control Channel only rather then entering all Freq.

I have a Uniden BR-330T Handheld Coming in the mail. It was hard to find.

I have heard it in action. Nice scanner! Make sure you get the software for it is easier to program that way.

One thing to keep in mind is that in order to be able to hear ALL of the talkgroups on a particular sub-system you need to be tuned to the freqs of that sub-system. I normally listen to the Seattle simulcast freqs but I also have some King County Sheriff, Eastside Fire, and Valley Com Fire talkgroups programmed and hear MOST of them just fine.

What I don't hear on the Seattle sub-system is LERN, EPSCA Fire Tac-8
(Snoqualmie Pass) and some of the other tac TG's.

Whoa - something caught my attention there. What is that about Snoqualmie Pass on EPSCA Fire Tac 8? I don't even see an ESPCA Fire Tac 8 in the King County Talkgroup listing on this board. (I see Tac 1-6, though, and a 9 & 10!) Exactly what talk group number is that?

And that's interesting Snoqualmie Pass can be heard on the EPSCA sub system, as we all know the only TRS that actually receives the mobiles up there would be the Dodge Ridge IR. I guess they must rebroadcast it on the EPSCA system, probably because they are dispatched by EPSCA. I always thought those volunteer boys up there just used VHF 154.19 and then TG 31728 (FD 51 Admin) on the TRS, and that's it. Correct me if I'm wrong! :) Thanks...

Tac 8 is 31408. It's for the times when EF&R and other units go up to the pass. I'm not sure which receivers are patched. Every so often you can hear a Skykomish unit (usually Aid 295) clearing the hospital in Monroe on Tac 8, so they may have some receivers way up high somewhere that pick that up.

Monroe & Skykomish? Are we talking about STEVENS pass here, or SNOQUALMIE pass?

But yes - I do now see 31408 as Tac 8 for eastside fire in the King County list. Missed it as it wasn't grouped with the other eastside fire tacs. I'll have to put that one in and see if I get anything on it.

Skykomish is in King County, Monroe being on the Snohomish County TRS Medic 31 or Medic 32 has to switch going to Skykomish or Stevens Pass. Don't go up there and have Chest pain, that is a long haul for a Medic Unit. And my first choice of hospitals would not be Monroe Valley General!

31408 used to be DISP 11 long ago. They have since reconfigured the talkgroups. It is now Tac 8.

Eastside Communications still has a significant 154.190 VHF system, including all the transmitters and voting receivers from the "old" Control 10 days. It's main role is to support those two departments (Skykomish and Snoqualmie Pass) that do not regularly use the Trunking Radio system.

So, those times that Eastside patches the .190 to FTAC-8 (usually for mutual aid responses up to Snoqualmie Pass), it would not be surprising to hear a Skykomish fire unit in Monroe. The patch is doing exactly what it's supposed to do - it just happens to be incidental to the original intent.

In addition - FTAC-8 may not be heard on the Seattle Sub-System simply because there are no radios on the Seattle Sub-System affiliated on FTAC-8. A sub-system generally does not carry a talkgroup if no radio on that part of the system is requesting to hear that talkgroup (of course, there are probably exceptions that I'll be corrected about).....

Or, perhaps FTAC-8 was excluded or not authorized on the Seattle Sub-System....

University of Washington P.D. can only be heard on the Seattle sub system.

Can someone explain what the differant sites are used for as used in scanning? Example, I want to listen to Seattle Fire so I plug in the Seattle Simulcast Freqs. or control channels if the scanner you use has that option. What is Apple Cove, North Seattle, used for.

I live North of Seattle, so I plugged in the Seattle Simulcast and North Seattle. Do I have this figured right?
