As of today (04/11/07) WSP has no plans to go P25 digital. They are still using VHF in wide band mode. Currently they are looking for more VHF frequencies that are clear over 100 miles. Goal in the short term is to make the entire state repeated.

I'm the shop tech for District 2 (King County). While the new mobiles and portables we're getting are certainly capable of P25 operation, there are no plans to convert over to it any time soon. The current VHF system works very well for us.

Keep the peace(es).

I found this info on the web re: wsp p25
thanks guys for any further info regarding this

Statewide Interoperability
Funds are provided to improve tactical emergency communications capabilities statewide. Geographic coverage of
existing mutual aid frequencies will be expanded and the number of mutual aid channels increased. Radio over
Internet Protocol will be deployed to tie tribal, local, state, and federal systems together in an interoperable
environment. A digital (P25) pilot will be conducted in Homeland Security Region 1. This pilot will support the
2010 Olympic Games and serve as a planning tool for future technology migrations. (General Fund-State,
Enhanced 911 Account-State)

WSP purchased its original 940 M/A-COM, dual-receiver, mobile radios and 700 M/A-COM portable radios through a Homeland Security Grant. All M/A-COM radios are P25 upgradeable and compliant with the mandates outlined in Substitute House Bill 2715. This purchase will also acquire the 12 additional M/A-COM portable radios as the original radios to ensure system compatibility as the WSP moves forward to narrowband, digital systems.
