ok this is strange, maybe someone can help. I'm losing the signal on the Snohomish TRS. I'm right in Woodinville,( almost on the county line) :cry: yet my scanner acts as if I'm in Portland. Heres the deal. I'm running one outdoor antenna with Belden coax. If i run that straight into the BC780XLT it will not pick up the system. If I run it into my older, splitter it works awesome. yet all UHF/VHF comms are deaf using that splitter, So I went to Radio Shack and got a T-Adapter and some RG 58-w/ BNC coax(6ft lengths) to run the 2 scanners from one antenna. I have all my UHF/VHF comms back but Snohomish TRS is dead, won't grab the CC. Yet all the King County TRS system works awesome. Its maddening. what is the issue here? is it just the CC channel? and why would it grab it with the older,ragedy splitter( very crude concoction). Its just scanning thru all the SNO TRS system and not picking up anyhting. I'm thinking its an issue with the SNO TRS and not my radio or my set-up. Any help would be great, Thanks.

Part of the scanning hobby is learning from what we hear -- or don't hear. When 107.7 in Seattle goes "off the air" -- you can hear 107.9 in Albany, Orgeon -- in most parts of the Seattle - Tacoma area. -- Radiowaves -- are just "waves of light" and bounce, reflect and sometimes even go around tall buildings and mountains. Yet you can't hear the darn radio just down the block -- in a hole or shadowed area. Part of the hobby.

I hear what your saying, MTM. I'm sure I'm just in a "rough" spot for the reception. Are you saying 107.7 is going off the air? or was that an example>?

NO - Just when they go off for maintenance or testing. It's known as the "Puget Sound Corridor" and was noticed by a U of W professor. When the old VHF Fire channels were assigned -- back in the late 1950's or so, 154.43, 154.19 154.25 and a few others were asssigned -- like a checker board -- to avoid interference to the next door County or City. The 700 & 800 Mhz channels are done like wise. Example: 866.20 in Snohomish County -- 866.2125 in Pierce County. But with the higher 700 + 800 Mhz channels -- transmitter site location or placement of a site on the side of a hill -- helps to also avoid problems.
