When Public Safety puts up an 800mhz trunking radio system, they are *supposed* to put up repeaters on these frequencies to support out-of-area mutual aid (i.e., visiting fire or law enforcement agencies). They are stand alone repeaters, not connected to the trunking system - unless they are specifically patched to the trunking system to support an operation. ICALL and ITAC-1 thru ITAC-4 are on the air in King County, and Sno County should be putting some on the air. I believe there is still some talks going on between the three counties to coordinate at least the ICALL channel into a simulcast channel. So, sure...plug them in. You will rarely hear anything, but if they are used it may be kind of interesting. Brad/N7JGX Whidbey Island, WA |

I hear activity on I-tac 4 from time to time. I'm guessing it's up north though. -Mike |
