Yeah, really! Luckily my house is back up but many around me are not. Has anyone noticed the cell companies bringing out trailered generators to cell sites? One major site very near me is I-405 & 112th / Newcastle exit (Exit 9) just south of Bellevue. Major cell site - Verizon, T-mobile, Cingular & Nextel are all there, just Sprint is absent. Still without power. Anyhow, this morning Nextel & Cingular have wheeled generators out there. Interestingly, Verizon & T-mobile do not. I have a Verizon phone and put it into field test mode. Normally, next to the cell site, I get a signal strength of about -55deb. It's now at around -75, not anywhere near full strength but still functioning. I didn't know they could operate cell sites at reduced power to save electricity? Or operate off battery? Wonder how that works exactly.

And yes, Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm at Exit 10 (Factoria) There's a site behind my house- needless to say, the generator has been purring for days. It must be a Cingular Site as my phone was outta' range. That is until they brought the generator in.

Merry Christmas to all NW Radio'ers.

The Verizon site in Factoria is in the storage center right off 124th Ave NE. You can see it very well driving up 405-N on the right hand side, big steel monopole site. The Cingular site is an old ATTWS site next to the movie theatre - east side of it, just south of I-90. Also big steel monopole site, easy to see. Not sure which ones are t-mobile or sprint/nextel there, havn't hunted that out yet. I know almost all the cell sites in this area - you live just a few miles from me!
