| Post subject: | Monitoring Snohomish TRS |
To monitor the Sno Co TRS do I need to input the west site and the east site or just either or depending on my location. and how strong is the system? I will be living in Woodinville. Will I pick it up from there on a Pro-97? or a BC 780xlt with an outdoor antenna? Just trying to gather which site to input to listen to snohomish county. Thank you! |

Hey Cowboy Mike, the Snohomish system is similar to King county, it's made up of two simoulcast systems, east and west, plus I think two IR sites. I'm sure either of those scanners will work just fine from Woodinville, I get the West side control channel from much further away here in Bellevue just fine. It also depends on what you want to listen to. Generally, only the agencies up and down the I-5 corridor from Marysville to the Sno/King line will be heard on Phase I. Generally, only the agencies in the rest of the county will be heard on Phase II. Some of the mutual aid and events TG's may be heard on both Phase I and Phase II (since some of those TG's have to support operations countywide). So, if you are only interested in the area just north of Woodinville, you'll probably be able to get away with only listening to Phase II. But, I'd have Phase I in your radio anyway - just in case an event spills over into that area. Experiment, and see what works for you... Brad N7JGX Whidbey Island, WA |

Thanks guys. So it is ok to put the west and east sites in the same bank as long as I put a conventional freq in between the two systems???? do i lock out the conventional freq or no? |

Ok got another question pertaining to the TG ID's whats the difference between snohomish county s.o. and fire and snocom pd and fire and then the snohomish county cities police? this last one is confusing. thank you. |

Snocom refers to the 911 dispatch center ( PSAP ) for Southwest Snohomish county -- serving the Edmonds, Lynwood, and Mount Lake Terrace area / cities. If you have a Radio Shack unit (Pro-95, Pro-96 or Pro-97) you can scan more than one Motorola trunked system -- in just one bank, provided you enter at least one non-trunked frequency, or more in between each control frequency. The non-trunked frequency MUST be open and not locked out. This "fakes" the scanner into thinking that it must jump to the next frequency -- and not remain on the first control channel only. I am not sure if this works on the Bearcat radios. |
