So I got a new scanner that requires you when you program it to say what kind of trunk system you are scanning.I see tyhat the Tacoma system is a motorola type II but also has a system voice of APCO-25. Does that mean I plug it in as a 800 standard or P25? Sorry for what is probably an easy question, just trying to figure out this new system.

Thanks in advance

I think it's just standard Motorola Type II analog, but with "mixed mode" Digital, much like the other major trunked systems in Western WA. Tacoma & Seattle both use digital encrypted talkgroups for sensitive traffic (i.e. narcotics team) I believe Wiz has confirmed that here.

I think there is another thread here that talks about Tacoma PD TAC channel being digital encrypted now.. I think a few folks were a little disappointed when they couldn't listen to that channel anymore.

All you can listen to is Tacoma Main Air. North and South plus events 1 and 2 also Tac 4 and 5 witch i do not have the talkgroups for those tac channels.
