If your rig is 2m, and your at our Federal Way site, your taking IM hits from the trunk system. Easy math here. The trunked system has 3 pairs that have offsets 600 KHz apart. Combined with the 2m offset, and the ham machine TX'ing, there is a potential during peak hours on the trunked system to have IM hits. The only solutions so far are to :
Make sure that the trunked system only uses those channels, when absolutely needed ( done ), Go 440, ( not likely ) or move to a new site. (not going to happen) This also happens at Rattlesnake MT, with the 5.11 machine.
Hams are going to see more difficulty in having access to commercial sites as time goes on. Look at the FCC website for news on the interference temperature. The days of finesse are over. Now just brutual signal strength to deliver service. Sites are going to become so noisy, that the days of good old two way, are dying... To bad. 100 watts of VHF is still my favorite
