Hey everyone - I have been recently trying to recieve the control channel for the EPSCA Education Hill transmitter site in Redmond, and going through the three freqs listed in the database, havn't had any luck. I then went to the FCC ULS system and looked up that site. According to the ULS system, Education Hill is licensed for the same set of freqs that the Seattle Apple Cove site uses. I get the control channel from Apple Cove great. Question is, has EPSCA changed the set of freqs for Education Hill? Also - when going through the FCC database, it appeared there was another transmitter site located at Newport Heights Elementary, in Bellevue (although they were calling it the Newcastle site). Anybody heard about this? Are they building a new transmitter for the trunked radio system? I'm not an expert in this so I was wondering if anyone knew. Thanks! |

That's the site for the "new" Intellipeater thats supposed to cover the Coal Creek/Newcastle/Factoria holes. Will be interesting to see if it works as advertised. No idea when it's going to be on the air - it's been in the works for several years now Brad. |

Huh, so will that site be part of the EPSCA simulcast system, or be a stand alone Smartzone site? I didn't think there were even holes in that area. |

That site will not be part of the simulcast system. It is a stand-alone Intellipeter site, and has it's own set of frequencies. It will only become active when a radio in the field affiliates with it, and brings it's associated talkgroup traffic with it. That area has been notorious for poor radio coverage ever since the system came on the air. I can receive each sub-system (EPSCA, Seattle, KC/VC) equally poor down there in the Coal Creek corridor between Factoria and Newcastle. When I'm down there and check my radio affiliation, I am usually affiliated with a Seattle site, rather than an EPSCA site (I'm an EPSCA user). KC/VC is a close second behind Seattle. Brad. |

So, apparently Apple Cove, Education Hill and the new site in Newport Hills will all share the same freqs (should be interesting) Apparently, Ed Hill is currently operating on a "temporary" control channel frequency. My scanner doesn't have the close call feature. Has anybody been able to figure out what the freq is? I've been scanning from 849 to end of 868 and havn't found a motorola trunked system yet that is unknown to me. |

So, I did finally figure out the CC frequency of the Epsca Education Hill site. I had to physically drive out there (it's next to the Redmond Pool, on top of a water tower) to figure it out. It's transmittng on 855.9625. Must be fairly low power as I didn't recieve it from very far away. Only one voice channel popped up as I was listening to it. Only talk group was Redmond PD Dispatch. I wasn't listening very long, though... I guess that might be another freq to update in the database! I'm not an FCC licensing expert, but I do wonder how they can use a freq that they arn't licensed for at that location? How is that allowed? Seems weird to me. |
