Post subject: | Data Channels ? |
Hello, I was searching my scanners for data channels because I have bad reception here in Edmonds . I found 939.9875 and 820.6125. Since neither my PRO94 nor my Pro2052 lets me program those frequencies into the scanner as data channels, I was wondering what is up with them ? Is this a clever way to prevent people trunking the systems or do these have some other use ? I can hear King County's system here a little, and Snohomish county's system but there are problems. There are several cells towers in the area and they are producing a lot of interference. Best wishes . |

I use 868.3375 as the data channel for the SnoCom system and it works great here in downtown Edmonds. I can also get the King County system fairly well here. I can't get the Seattle system (it works when you get up near Hwy 99, but not here in downtown Edmonds.) |

Thanks for the reply, Beaconhunter. I live within a block of hwy99 so Snocom comes in well, and erraticlly, so does King county but then I think our elevation here is around 254 ft., based on the difference in barometric pressure between here and where I used to live. the cell towers play havoc with reception here because they are so close. I was curious what the other data channels I mentioned are related to (938.9875, 820.6125). Is there a public safety organization using 900 mhz here ? |

938.9875 is one of the data channels for Snohomish County PUD - their system gets interesting during and after wind storms. |

That is usually a repeater input frequency (for 865.6125). There are no licenses in SnohCo for 820.6125. Might you be so close to a transmitter site that you're seeing an image frequency? FlashP |

My thanks to "189" and "FlashP" <S>. There are a couple other questions I have as well if I may: Where can I find a list of the frequencies of the Ferry System ? Is there a listing of the Snohomish pud fqys ? Since I live in Edmonds and there is a ferry terminal here, I thought it might be somewhat interesting to listen to their arrovals and departures. Best wishes to all, and thanks again :) Miguelito |
