Heard a sheriff's dept somewhere in W. Wash doing a EAS test on 450.0875 any ideas? The signal strength wasn't all that great as I missed the county All I heard was "xxxxx sheriff's dept testing the emergecy alert system"

Or wait until 8:30 on the last thurs of the month again...

What you heard was a "EAS Broadcast" -- This is a repeater on Tigar Mountain -- near Issaquah, owned by Entercom Seattle. Over the years as the EBS became EAS / EAN -- several "RPU" Remote Broadcast Pickup -- radio channels have been used to RELAY an emergency message from Local Government to the various radio and TV stations. At one time 455.45 was used. 166.25 is a Statewide EAS relay channel in Oregon. However -- these radio frequencies are NOT a Sheriffs or Police channel. These are back-up or relays --- used only as a second level of communications to relay the EAS message. Keep this frequency in your scanner at all times. MTM

which was "CONELRAD" before that on 640 and 1240....

I saw the rptr for Entercom on Tiger in the candy commision database so figured it was it, sounded simplex though.

I had the 450 freq in there as a KPTV dispatch, so when it came accross I knew from the sequential tones what it was but still wondering which agency was getting the broadcast... used to hear around 10am on select thurs the same test on 155.475 from the EMD at Camp Murray. Haven't had NLEEC on the scan list in a long time.

The "RPU" broadcast frequencies are controlled by the local broadcasters. You may have heard 450.0875 simplex. They may have just been testing the station receivers -- . Entercom includes KIRO-AM 710, KTTH-770, KISW - 99.9, KBSG 97.3, KMTT 103.7, KNDD 107.7 and KKWF on 100.7 -- one of my favorite frequencies. Most likely KIRO is the major user. Mark is older and he can tell you about CONELRAD !! LOL-- LOL -- :D :D :D
