So I've heard the KC helo doing streaming video during big events (WT O 2). They were working things out last night on MARS with WS P dispatch. I wasn't able to listen that close but it sounded like they were not having any trouble at all so it must be a new system. Any ideas if it's a signal we could see on like a R3?

Unless your R3 can do 6 GHz, no.

I have a Bearcat 101. Can you tell me how to position the 16 switches to get that frequency? No really, are there receivers for this freq at the mil surplus places?

Looks like King County is using the 6 GHZ band and Seattle PD is going to use the NEW 4.9 Ghz (Police Video Band). Anyway you look at it -- you will need a receiver that covers from about 4 to 7 Ghz. Most receivers I have seen -- are NOT surplus. They can be had -- but $$$$. As for Mark's Bearcat -- I'll see his scanner and give you a Whamo 10 with programming combs and a MS-1 Memoryscan. LOL :D :D

I''ll raise you with a Digiscan 8 and, hold on, a Digiscan 16. What was the name of the thing that would go in the input of the car am/fm antenna and convert it with a crystal to a VHF freq.

Thats the one. Mu first radio was a GE taxi radio (with 12V battery and car charger) that had been retuned to 33.9 so I could hear SFD. I'm completely blanking on where SPD was before they moved to UHF

Seattle FD was on 33.90 Mhz before they moved to UHF. Before that they shared a channel with Seattle PD around 2400 Khz -- AM.
