Radio IDs are seeming to be passing randomly.

Monitoring VHF side...

Duplicated behavior on SDR and on M7100.

Either they're on VHF or the radio ID is being rebroadcast with the patch from the 700 system.

Also, ton of radios still have a radio ID of 1, Parks 444 as an example....unless that's the patching console ID (still stupid)

I'm wondering if "0"displays on VHF area for both remote base and car id's, it is being patched from the 700 side? Also heard a trooper on N say he was on "DOT radio"

Not getting a numerical zero, just no ID decoded.

I will try to start logging IDs on the VHF side to see if a pattern emerges. Based on what I've seen so far, there aren't any. Most agencies I've worked with use a unit ID or ID number as part of the radio ID. Doesn't seem to be the case here. Must be a PITA to keep updating the consoles with radio ID aliases.

Trooper 793 logs off, and his radio alias is released. ..on his way home..he flips his car after hitting a patch of ice ...he's pinned by the steering wheel...mic is destroyed...but manages to hit the emergency button.... So... who is ID 7039427? The dispatcher ponders.....

Vs....

Oh...700000793. ... that's trooper 793...

Sigh

Radio ID's are static. In no way are they dynamic. Keep looking, you're almost there.

They dont log off till they get home...

My guess is that the ID is not coming from from the 700 side to the VHF base transmitters. That only guys that might be using the VHF side due to coverage issues or other are showing an actual ID. Again just a guess.

Good to know.

That was my guess as well.... Since I'm not getting any dispatch console ID on the VHF side, ever.

The Radio ID of 1 popping up is probably a console patch...but what idiot puts a console (or any radio for that matter) as ID 1?

Must be that guy installing unprogrammed radios..lol

Dynamic IDs are possible, but not usually programmed. Different ID per system. Usually has to do with interop issues and groups of radio IDs being issued to neighboring agencies for interop. Obviously this isn't the case here...but it IS entirely possible to have a different radio ID for VHF ops and 700 ops.

But I'm preaching to the choir on that one.

ETA.....

Parks 262 is also transmitting an ID of 1....

Car2 has appeared to change to TG 59202.

I am having better audio listening to IWIN South Seattle Site, then 155.58MHz... even in North Seattle.
IWIN seems to carry more subtle human tones, back ground sounds such as "you've got mail DING" and door ajar reminders. On IWIN I have an easier time distinguishing between two male voices. On 155.58MHz, 2 male voices blend into a seemingly 1 male voice reading from a script written for 2 people.
Also on IWIN I don't get the P25 "PFFFFFFT" sound that much at the top of a conversation, like I do on 155.58MHz

yesterday there still was a speed trap using a plane on CAR as analog, not P25.

I hear better on the 700 Mhz system. The XTS 5000 works on VHF but it sounds like forced speech. The vocoder on the 436HP is more pleasing to the ears I guess.

My guess gregz is that you mean the 700 system? JWIN.

I propose a simple convention:

700 Mhz (Phase 2 system)
IWN (VHF)
<freq> (VHF WSP)

:)

i agree.

sorry about the typo. I meant
IWIN = VHF IWN P25 phase 1, 167.00 167.33750 167.68750 167.78750 170.93750 172.06250

you think I should go up edit my text in my previous post?

So you are saying WSP Seattle North which was on 155.580 is now on

VHF IWN P25 phase 1, 167.00 167.33750 167.68750 167.78750 170.93750 172.06250

as TG 59211 ???

Jim, WSP North is on all 3 systems at the moment. 155.58 (P25), IWN (P25) and 700 Mhz (P25.) The TGIDs are still probably being "organized" and the actual numbers may change off and on. WSP South is only on 154.68 (P25) and 700 Mhz (Phase 2) -- I haven't checked to see if they're also on IWN.
