Thank you Mark, How about New World Cad, Locution, and Re-Banding ?

SERS is not involved with New World other than our upgrade today consists of a MCC7500 console to provide data so New World can convert radio ID to a person.
SERS has no involvement at this time with Locution.
Re-Banding is finally here, new templates will be finalized over the next 60 days, plans are being made to start programming subscriber equipment this summer.

Ok so I'll bring up the 64 million dollar question. What can you tell us about encryption?

And thank you for all the good information BTW.

What would you like to know? I can tell you everything other than the actual key codes we use.
For SERS we use DES-OFB, all encypted talkgroups are digital and all digital talkgroups are encrypted including the SERS technicians talkgroup.
Can you crack the code? Not likely unless you are Isreali Intelligence.
Is there anything worth listening to if you could listen, not really.

Most of us that frequent here understand the need for encrypted talk groups. SWAT, NARC and so on. I guess what we all really would like to know is if the whole SERS system is going encrypted for the most part? Thus not allowing us to monitor anything.

No reason to encrypt day-to-day traffic, so no it will not be encrypted.

Anytime, as I have stated several times over the last several years SERS is an open book. We have nothing to hide or keep secret on the most part. That which is sensitive is encrypted but we have always published our talkgroups and we will answer questions honestly about our system. Like eveyone here I enjoy this hobby and I have some cool toys to add to the enjoyment. Even though I work day-to-day with radio I still listen on my off time, I listen to my system as well as our neighbors to the north and south.

Maybe SNOPAC decided to not use the new Alert Tones, I have not heard them all day? SNOPAC is saying "Ladder 72 Stand by for Page" then the dispatch. Not the best choice of Tones.

I don't know, Was it out of service ? I was just using that as an example. 2's is Everett Fire, I was referring to Ladder 72 from District 7 Station 72

When I was a resident, the ladder was at 71. They didn't like to drive it code up 180th. Coming down the hill was ok.

The Ladder has been at 72's since about late 90's It sounds like you don't scan the SERS system much ?
