E84 and E85 were dispatched today per the online CAD feed. Incident #F140052082. Are these reserve engines?

I thought SFD Reserve rigs were 3 digits? Could be a Renton Engine that was asked to help cover/Move up while they had that major Marine incident.

Seattle Fire's reserve apparatus are typically numbered in the 80's. Their training apparatus are numbered in the 90's. If Renton responded into Seattle for Mutual Aid, it would likely have a four digit number beginning with 30, Engine 3011 for example.

All fire depts. in Washington state have a Fire District number Seattle's is 50. Seattle unites responding to large mutual aid incidents, such as wild fires in Eastern Washington, use the Id 50 plus the unit number (i.e. Engine 50-39 or Medic 50-31). For local Mutal Aid they use dispatch center Id (i.e. Seattle Fire) plus there unite No. as there Id (i.e. Seattle Fire Medic 31 or Seattle Fire Strike force 1). A strike force is a predetermined group of unites a on mutual aid response.

I have heard of Seattle Fire belonging to ZONE 5! Not Fire Districts! And SFD E39 if sent on a wildland deployment should have a placard that says 5-39. SFD is the only Dept. that has their on ZONE, not Fire District. And I don't think the Spokane area uses this system.

At one time all the fire departments in King County were split into 5 zones, when several agencies started merging they merged zones 1 & 2 into just Zone 1, and Zones 3 & 4 are now just Zone 3. so now there are 3 Zones instead of 5. Whenever responding as mutual-aid as either a task force or a strike team they will add a zero to their zone number so Seattle's designator would be 50 and the unit designator, a single digit designator would add a zero to their designator so Seattle Engine 2 would be Engine 50-02.

The Zones in King County are as follows:

Zone 1
Bellevue Fire Department, Bothell Fire and E.M.S., Duvall Fire, Eastside Fire & Rescue, King County Fire District # 27, Kirkland Fire Department, Mercer Island Fire Department, Northshore Fire Department, Redmond Fire Department, Shoreline Fire Department, Snoqualmie Fire Department, Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue, Woodinville Fire & Rescue.

Zone 3
Boeing Fire Department, Burien/Normandy Park Fire Department, Enumclaw/KCFD 28, King County Fire District # 20, King County Fire District 44, King County Fire District 47, Kent Fire Department, King County International Airport, King County Medic One, Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety, North Highline Fire, Port of Seattle Fire Department, Renton Fire and Emergency Services, SeaTac Fire Department, South King Fire & Rescue, Tukwila Fire Department, Valley Regional Fire Authority, Vashon Island Fire & Rescue.

Zone 5
Seattle Fire Department

If I remember right, there is also a designator for if they call for out of state mutual aid...
