You should see stuff for Metro and Pierce Transit already. Keep in mind we only get half of the spectrum again. The other half belongs to our friends to the north

And... the FCC just made major changes to the band plan, which means your scanner, with todays firmware, will probably not work after February 2009. In some cases before that. No new system licenses will be granted on the parts of the old band plan that will change. No systems not now constructed, or partly constructed and operational, will be allowed to go on the air using those channels that are changed.

In a nutshell, the lower voice channels move up to the upper end of the band and the wideband channels move to the lower end of the public safety band and become broadband channels.

Cheers,

Wiz

I think Pierce may be in a position to get a waiver to continue building. I don't know the status of the others. In any case timelines are very short on this, unless the licensee wants to go on hold, and/or pay for any frequency modifications thenselves.

This is getting clearer and clearer.

( I help manage our local film festival and every year they try and get the language better for the QUEUE - whaiting in line to get a # and when you have to be back with the number - blah, blah, blah. So this year the languale has been refined once again and every manager will have the language on their t-shirts. So Wiz, Sean, Spencer and Mark, please get your t-shirts done by the next meeting.)

So buy no scanner yet, and wait and see about the GRE's ????

Are these continual changes beneficial or does the FCC have nothing better to do but reconfigure everything. How do we know that the next administration won't but commissioners in place that will make further changes. I am not a real technical person (and I realize that) but it seems to me that millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent to continually re-invent the wheel. I suppose however, that we have seen that from Washington DC time and time again.

If the changes are beneficial then so be it. Some how I have the feeling pressure from the private sector is being exerted again.

Some say It's all about the money, others argue that it is about the amount of users on limited systems...

I think the only reason is to piss off MTM

It's all done to tick off Wiz.

The Region 43 RPC is meeting today to discuss the R&O. The results should be interesting. The website will probably not be up to date yet. http://www.region43.org
