New Channels applied for near Monroe. 154.785 (R) and 155.01 (R). Inputs will be 159.165 and 159.03. WSP has also applied for transmitters on Gold Mountain on 155.655 (R) and 154.74 (R). I think that the 159.165 channel is a Snohomish County SO "Give-up" channel. 155.01 is a Common local Police channel. OOOOPS - looks like the WSP just took over the channel. At one time just about every town in Washington State used 155.01 - including Seattle.

Yep, Oly /Lacey and Tumwater still use it for car to car and Centralia as well, for now

155.01 is also a F2 for Port Townsend Fire and used by many small cities throughout the state.

Buckley, Orting, Wilkeson, Carbonado all use 155.010 as their primary channel, Steilacoom uses it as a car-to-car freq, and it's in all the Pierce County Sheriff's radios as F-15.

:D During the late 1960's and early 1970's -- "The" head of the Washington State Police frequency co-ordination group was a Colonel with the WSP. He "protected' every WSP channel. No one was allowed to use 154.74, 154.755, 154.785 and lotts of others. Years later as even the smaller towns move into a regional or trunked system - even the statewide common PD channel of 155.01 gets to be re-used. At one time all of the towns in King County were on 155.01 from the north of Seattle around the eastside down into the Kent Valley. 155.01 is also a very common "small town" channel in Oregon and Northern California. Some States or Areas of the US might not need or move to the higher channels. Maine is an example. Its 75% VHF - high band and very little 800 mhz. Several channels should be allocated soley for use by smaller towns. This prevents all the entire band being used up and "Inter-operibility with local police.

It would be interesting to hear from the SERS folks on this issue, especially the 159.165 freq. That is Snohomish County East dispatch. In addition to the sheriff's office, it's used to dispatch Snohomish, Monroe, and the other small towns up the US2 corridor to Index. There's been some resistance to these towns switching over to the 800-meg system (last I heard) but perhaps there have been some changes in that issue.

Ah, the old 155.01. Still have a crystal for this freq.

Listened to Lake forest park pd for many many years on this freq.

Cars 543 and 544 were the original 2.

Ncap security shared this freq awhile Cars 501, 502 etc...They oftened chatted with LFPD car to car and even responded to calls as backup ocassionally.

On a nice day would hear bonney lake PD! (skip?)

Those days are long gone, this new 800 mhz trunked system really sucks IMHO.

SERS has been in contact with the WSP folks, 159.165 was never part of our turn back frequencies, we have suggested alternatives. It is scheduled for use as part of our backwoods repeaters.
Yes there has been changes with the East County cities, they are looking at levies to fund their move.

:D I'm not sure 155.01 should be used - unless its as a lower level - tac/car to car. Not all Public Safety users are moving to newer bands. And as California came to acknowledge - True Inter-operability begins with what is NOW in use. 155.01 is still a very common "LOCAL" channel. It should be used as such. There is a NEED to protect certain frequencies from being under or over used. That is why the FCC cut 20 different services down into just two - Business and Public Safety. A business person COULD apply for use of 155.01. The Buckley PD sharing the channel with a Pizza Delivery service. Not the best use. But neither is the WSP from a hilltop near Monroe on 155.01. Radio frequencies, tress and fish are all natural resources and need to be protected and used as such. I am off my soap box now. :lol:

Hay Mike (or someone else), Post a current WSP list and I will get it to the referance section. Huge amount of change in the last year. I still can't get used to 159.075 being an input. It was always in the 'must have' bank for travel.

A good frequency book now days would sell for $ 30 or more. Not many willing to pay that each year or so. We could use an updated WSP list. No one knows anything about the Emergency / portable WSP transmitter on 161.61 !!
