I read the thread about "rebanding" with interest. I think my PRO 97 will be useles in 860-869 band unless they provide a means of updating the firmware. I surmise that I will still be able to listen to that band in conventional mode, and for a small system like snohomish county that might not be that much of a problem, but for a system like Valleycom-King County_EPSCA that might be a nightmare. It would seem also, that a transition could be messy since not everyone will be required to switch. That is unfortunate since Homeland Security would like everyone to have some common ground on which they might all be able to intercommunicate. At any rate, it is going to be a long time before it is all accomplished. I DO think law enforcement, public safety, fire and emergency need to be given priority over commercial interests.
I am interested in what others think about my assumptions - hopefully I'm not too far off base; I'm certainly no expert. m
