Post subject: SFD Fire Boat Engine 1

Heard on the news tonight that a brand new smaller size fire boat was placed in service for the Seattle Fire Dept. as Engine 1. Not sure where it will be stationed or if it will be manned.

Supposedly, delivery was to take place in June. (Could have used it a few weekends ago!) It doesn't say where they will keep it (fresh or salt) so that will be interesting to see.

They are getting two new fire boats.
A 108 foot fireboat named the Leschi which will arrive in January 2007 and a small 50 foot fireboat. Both of these will be stationed at Station 5 on the waterfront.

The existing Chief Seattle will be renovated and used as the cities primary freshwater fireboat and will replace the Alki which will be retired from city service.
