Agreed Andre, talkgroups can't really do much to harm the system, but
looking at it from a legal point of view, the two words "potentially" and
"could" give them a lot of leeway. Like I said, the info may be out there
already, but because of the law, they can't/won't give it to you.
If you really want the info, why not go see the AG with proof that other
cities have given this info out and ask for clarification of the law?

By the way - how long ago was it that you got that info? Recently? Or pre-9/11?

If other counties are giving out talkgroup info, that would certainly set a precedent in WA state, wouldn't it? Now you got me thinking again...

Both pre and post-9/11/01. The only thing that changed afterwards was a few admin types asked if I was a US citizen when I requested the info

Interesting dialogue. You may want to ask the ARRL for advice. For example, when BPL first arrived many folks were worried about interference and the smart and wise manufacturers worked with the ARRL to ameliorate the issues.

--> Perhaps the ARRL can provide guidance to the "scanner hobbyists" on how to work with their local incumbent government agencies.

Just a thought.
