I'm an authorized Whistler Retailer in Pennsylvania. We received notice that Whistler has ceased all operations effective October 31, 2024.

Someone should tell Ralphie to hack the Whistler website to make his Lindsay Blanton fantasy look more realistic.

The scanner industry is slowly starting to die out anyways due to a shit ton of reasons:
1. police agencies are kinda being a bit disrespectful towards the people who pay for their services (us, the civilians) by not letting us know and informing us of danger on the radio scanner (ahem encryption).

2. Analog has died officially in television, and the FCC probably made such illegal to transmit now (im not entirely sure if this is true, however). <- Another form of disrespect. Theres still lots of room left for analog on the other bands however, and those frequencies dont even take much bandwidth. The reserved bands of 225-400 Mhz dont even get any sort of activity regardless if they are reserved for milair. Theres just nothing attractive there.

3. these devices are extremely expensive to purchase AND make. We all know by now big beefy electronics are too expensive to even purchase.

4. The SDS models introduced by uniden are dog awful in battery life. 4.2-3.2 volts? Thats about 30-45 minutes before I have to charge the rechargeable battery in it, which has to sit for **8** **HOURS**. That is not quality assurance.

5. The rarer models of scanners that are by gone (the pro 2006, 2042, 2005, etc)..They are actually going to be worth some great selling value, probably a lot more than its selling price back in the day when they *were* manufactured.
