Who has power or antennas down?

52mph gust just now here on the Tacoma waterfront. City power is out but the base is on generator.

Power's back but some issue with the switching stuff has kept the generator going. Lots of wires down calls. TFD dispatcher got tongue tied and toned out a "ires warking" call.

Tacoma put out a single vehicle rollover EB 16 @ Pearl. Troopers chatting say it was possibly due to sidewinds.

Per the anemometer, we just got hit with a 69.3mph gust. There used to be a bunch of traffic cones in the parking lot. Nowhere to be seen now. Ditto for the trash can that had 2 cinder blocks in the bottom.

Apparently that big gust turned one of the Port of Tacoma cranes 45 degrees sideways, causing the 2.5 ton concrete tiedown to put a hole in the hull of a container ship. A 90+ ton crane.

ouch.

Was flying back from San Antonio last night. First time I've experienced a "go-around" in a commercial jet.

Roughest approach and landing I've had in a long time. The Alaska pilots did a great job. No pilot want to call a "go-around", but they did it anyway rather than just going for it.

Swell.

So far, no power fluctuations. Pleanty of branches down in the neighborhood, though. Just a matter of time.

Actually, I just looked at the anemometer display and 7 minutes ago it recorded a 31.1 mph gust (my office is in the bowels of the complex).

The wind is picking up again. Hopefully the tree that came down and took out the power last night for 6 hrs.. was the only 'weak' one. Sure is howling up here on the hill in Maltby. Might go out with the handheld anemometer
